General FAQ

About TrackShift

Q: What is TrackShift?

A: TrackShift is a Shopify app that migrates your legacy tracking scripts to Shopify’s modern Web Pixels. It supports 9 tracking providers (GA4, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, Google Ads, LinkedIn, Bing, GTM) with optional server-side tracking for 8 of them.

Q: Why do I need TrackShift?

A: Shopify is deprecating legacy checkout customizations like Additional Scripts. If you have tracking code there, it will stop working. TrackShift migrates your tracking to Web Pixels, which are fully supported and compliant with Shopify’s requirements.

Q: What Shopify plans does TrackShift work with?

A: TrackShift works with all Shopify plans: Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus. No special plan is required.

Q: Do I need technical knowledge to use TrackShift?

A: No. TrackShift is designed for non-technical merchants. Our scanner automatically detects your tracking setup, and you can install pixels with one click. For server-side CAPI, you’ll need to copy/paste API credentials from your ad platforms.

Installation & Setup

Q: How do I install TrackShift?

A: Search for “TrackShift” in the Shopify App Store, click “Add app”, and follow the installation prompts. The app will guide you through initial setup.

Q: Do I need to remove my existing tracking code?

A: Yes. Once TrackShift pixels are installed and working, you should remove legacy code from Additional Scripts and theme files to prevent duplicate conversions.

Q: Will TrackShift affect my historical data?

A: No. TrackShift sends events to your existing tracking IDs (GA4 Measurement ID, Meta Pixel ID, etc.). Your historical data remains intact, and new events continue in the same accounts.

Q: How long does setup take?

A: Basic setup takes 5-10 minutes. Server-side CAPI configuration may take 15-30 minutes per provider, depending on your familiarity with the ad platforms.

Tracking & Data

Q: What events does TrackShift track?

A: TrackShift tracks 13 Shopify Customer Events across the full funnel:

  • Page view, product view, collection view, search
  • Cart view, add to cart, remove from cart
  • Checkout started, address submitted, contact submitted
  • Payment info submitted, shipping submitted
  • Purchase completed

Q: Is my customer data safe?

A: Yes. TrackShift:

  • Hashes all PII (email, phone) with SHA256 before sending to ad platforms
  • Encrypts API credentials with AES-256
  • Never stores raw customer data
  • Complies with GDPR and CCPA

Q: Does TrackShift slow down my store?

A: No. Web Pixels run in a separate sandbox environment and don’t affect your store’s page load time. Server-side events are sent asynchronously after page load.

Q: Can I use TrackShift with GTM?

A: TrackShift replaces GTM-based tracking for most use cases. Our native Web Pixel templates are simpler, more reliable, and specifically designed for Shopify. If you have complex GTM requirements, contact support to discuss options.

Compatibility

Q: Does TrackShift work with my theme?

A: Yes. TrackShift uses Shopify’s Web Pixels, which work independently of your theme. Any Shopify 2.0 or OS 2.0 theme is compatible.

Q: Is TrackShift compatible with other apps?

A: Generally yes, but you should disable other tracking apps for the same providers to prevent duplicates. TrackShift replaces Shopify’s native Facebook, Google, TikTok, and Pinterest integrations.

Q: Does TrackShift support multi-language stores?

A: Yes. TrackShift tracks events regardless of the language your customer views the store in.

Q: Does TrackShift support multi-currency stores?

A: Yes. TrackShift automatically uses the presentment currency (what the customer sees and pays) for all tracking events, ensuring accurate revenue attribution for international stores.

Support & Updates

Q: How do I get help?

A: Email support@trackshift.app. Pro users receive priority support with faster response times.

Q: Is TrackShift updated regularly?

A: Yes. We continuously update TrackShift to support new Shopify features, ad platform changes, and customer requests. Updates are applied automatically.

Q: What happens if a tracking platform changes their API?

A: We monitor all integrated platforms and update TrackShift accordingly. You don’t need to take any action – updates are automatic.
