How Shopify Handles Consent

Shopify provides a built-in consent banner (Customer Privacy Banner) that:

• Appears on store pages
• Collects marketing/analytics consent
• Stores preference in _tracking_consent cookie
• Fires customer_privacy_consent_changed event

TrackShift Integration

TrackShift automatically:

1. Reads initial consent from cookie
2. Listens for consent changes
3. Updates Google Consent Mode
4. Respects user choices in tracking

Enabling Shopify’s Consent Banner

1. Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Customer Privacy
2. Enable Collect marketing consent
3. Configure banner text and appearance
4. Save changes

• European Union (GDPR)
• California (CCPA)
• Other regions with privacy laws
